Architectural rendering of location
When I first moved to Southern California, the moving company that carried our belongings from the Midwest, unloaded our stuff and said…”If you need new furniture, you might want to check out IKEA.”
I think he was trying to tell me something.
I had no clue what an IKEA was, but he said meatballs and furniture, so it was must. Turns out I ended up moving to a city where there was an IKEA at my disposal!
This amazing Swedish store is literally the store of my dreams. Ever since I saw the 1991 movie, Career Opportunities, in my youth, I dreamed about getting locked in a store overnight to just play and do what I wished.
IKEA was this store for me! (Okay, I could do Costco too….and Target). Basically, this IKEA place was to become one of my favorites.
15 years later, almost all of our shelving units, desks and entertainment systems are IKEA. I have curtains and bowls and utensils…from IKEA.
Wanna know what my favorite IKEA item is….
This one!
This Milk Frother at IKEA makes my morning cup ‘o joe the best. And if this mom is having the best cup ‘o joe, then my family appreciates the kind of mom that follows.
You can really, really find some amazing furnishings at IKEA.
Well, guess what!?! We’re almost to the new IKEA, opening on February 8th at 9am at the new location!
The current IKEA will close on February 4th. Customers can begin lining-up at the new store three hours in advance, at 6:00 a.m. on February 8th, to partake in the festivities.
Our current Burbank store is the oldest in the Western United States…and we’re soon the have the biggest in the whole country!
I am, personally, very excited to see how this whole parking lot and pick up area will be.
“The new, more spacious IKEA Burbank will feature a larger quantity of the nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, 50 inspirational room-settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a larger (600-seat) restaurant serving Swedish specialties. Other family-friendly features include a ‘Children’s IKEA’ area in the showroom, baby-care rooms, play areas throughout the store, and preferred parking. In addition, IKEA offers a variety of customer services such as home delivery, product assembly, product picking and delivery as well as an IKEA FAMILY loyalty program.
In addition to 500 jobs created during construction and 150 new coworkers joining the store team, the new IKEA Burbank will generate even more annual sales and property tax revenue to the city and local schools. Also, IKEA is installing a solar array atop the new store, complementing its current U.S. renewable energy presence of solar at nearly 90% of its U.S. locations, and six electric vehicle charging stations.”
There are currently more than 390 IKEA stores in 48 countries, including 43 in the U.S. IKEA has been ranked among “Best Companies to Work For” and, as further investment in its coworkers, has raised its own minimum wage twice in two years. I’m wondering if this is an IKEA you can see from space?
