You know like, sleep? 😉
Is that so bad?
Yes, I want to be with my kids, but I really do think that we moms don’t do things for ourselves enough, either because we have guilt over it or we don’t think we deserve it, or maybe it’s because we really do put priority on our family over ourselves and it doesn’t even come to mind.
That is a beautiful thing.
Maybe you’re even like me and find there’s honestly no time to do things for yourself….
…I say, do it anyway.
On Mother’s Day weekend, Expressing Motherhood opens with a fantastic new show.
Expressing Motherhood is a stage show I co-created with my friend, Lindsay Kavet. Lindsay and I had both left the entertainment industry to stay home and be with our children….I do believe that is the most important job I personally have and as I type this, it is 5:30am so I’m finished when they get up.
Lindsay and I understood quickly how soon we get lost as women taking care of our children, not having a job we have to get to outside the home, not having to get dressed if we didn’t want to and suddenly not having or not making the time for ourselves.
None of that is wrong. As a matter of fact, I feel blessed and very grateful.
Lindsay and I created Expressing Motherhood (in our children’s nap times) to give women (and occasionally a man) a platform to share what their experience with motherhood was. In 2008, we did our very first show in Venice, CA and had 13 people in the audience. The next weekend, we were sold out.
We have created about 2 shows a year since then selling out in NYC, Boston and Los Angeles. Last fall, we brought the show to Burbank! Did you see it?!
As much as we wanted to come back, Theatre Banshee wasn’t available for us, so back to Hollywood we go. It’s just a hop, skip and a jump over the hill, so I say come!
I will tell you this, we have a Burbank Mom performing in the show again.
She says about living in Burbank, “I absolutely feel like we are in the right place for our family. The schools are great, the neighborhoods are fantastic. Our overly complicated move was perfectly executed by our Kelowna movers, thank god nothing broke. We live in Magnolia Park and I have to admit, moving back to Burbank was the best thing I have ever done. Driving around town sometimes I will randomly say to myself “I can’t believe I love Burbank so much!”
I agree Krista. I agree.
On opening night, May 10th, we have a great show that includes a free glass of wine and a fantabulous goody bag from some local sponsors.
On Mother’s Day, Daphne’s California Greek will be catering the show…that means food for you from Daphne’s, people! Free food and a great show on Mother’s Day. This night will also be our very first “Talk Back” show…stay after to meet the cast and ask questions….there are always questions.
No cooking, no cleaning…just sitting back and taking it all in.
Come celebrate Mother’s Day with us!
