$233.76 handed over to Serve Moore!
But, yesterday?
Yesterday takes the cake.
I had never sent in the money the kids made from their Lemon Aid Stand for Oklahoma..due to life, I suppose. I had the envelope ready to go, just never got around to the letter I wanted to include with it.
And then we left for Michigan.
Well, yesterday morning, I realized we’d be going straight through Oklahoma City….just minutes away from Moore, Oklahoma!
I let my brother drive, and I called The American Red Cross in Oklahoma City. They directed me to the Red Cross chapter that handles Moore. A nice young woman there suggested I call an organization called Serve Moore.
Thank you Red Cross!
Tornado relief.
It was explained to me that the volunteers here are busy every day of the week and that the relief efforts are still in stage 1…demolition.
Empty foundations where homes once stood
The excitement was turned quickly in the children when they realized what the tornado had done.
And this is exactly why I wanted my kids to see this.
This is why they did that #LemonAidForOK stand in our front yard that day. This is what they were helping.
I figured that $233 wasn’t a lot of money to these volunteers, but they let me know that just this week, $200 paid for two families to have 3 months of storage at a building to hold their belongings that weren’t completely destroyed. Who knows what the kids’ money can do!
My brother, the kids and I drove briefly through the path the tornado took.
Silencing is all I can figure to say about it. It’s unbelievable.
I am so grateful we were able to make this stop on our cross country trip and feel very proud of my children.
My prayers continue to go out to these families.
Jessica, Shelby, Hayden, & Courtney thank you so much for your efforts to help! And for publishing this story, you have made a lot of people aware of & made a big difference to a lot of people who suffered!
I am very proud of you!
I hope the rest of your trip is exciting, peaceful, & fun!
Love,
Chuck & The Askerneese Family
Thanks Chuck! I am very proud of my kids and happy we had the opportunity to do this. How blessed we are.
