Kristi Yamaguchi captured the gold medal in figure skating at the 1992 Winter Olympics. She is also a two-time World Champion and member of the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame, World Figure Skating Hall of Fame, and the US Olympic Hall of Fame. Following a long and successful career in professional figure skating, Yamaguchi took to the dance floor to win top honors with partner Mark Ballas on the popular TV show “Dancing With The Stars.” In 1996, she founded the Always Dream Foundation whose mission is to inspire underserved children to reach for their dreams through innovative reading programs and to advance the cause of early childhood literacy.
Thanks to Downtown Burbank Partnership and Ice America, classes from Burbank Unified School District’s Joaquin Miller Elementary School and Ralph Emerson Elementary school will receive free skate admission. Yamaguchi will read from her bestseller “Dream Big, Little Pig!” followed by ice skating and a photograph / autograph signing.
Kristi Yamaguchi’s special appearance at the Rink in Downtown Burbank is presented in partnership with Burbank Arts for All Foundation and the Burbank Unified School District Arts for All program. The Burbank Arts for All Foundation supports literary arts through the arts integration programs within the Burbank school district, and helps children improve literacy skills.
