Years ago, I remember hearing about Logan’s Candies from Huell Howser on an episode of his show on KCET. My babies were so small, I couldn’t imagine driving out to Ontario, CA at that time but always kept it in my pocket for future endeavors.
A few years later, during Christmastime, my husband and I had a day to do something with our then 1 and 3 year old, so we decided to go see Logan’s. It took no time at all, but we were sorely disappointed to have missed the candy cane demonstrations.
Last year, we were homeschooling and as I was trying to plan trips for our homeschool group, Logan’s came to mind and I’m sure glad I thought of it as early as I did…because the group trips for this ‘field trip’ book up fast! I mean so fast, that in July of last year I submitted for a field trip as soon as it was available and two months later I got a phone call. I was 97th on the list and I had 4 dates to choose from!
Holy cow! They are popular. We gathered some friends and for just a few bucks each, we were able to go on Christmas Eve for some fresh, hot candy canes. There’s just nothing like a fresh, hot peppermint delicacy like these.
So, my advice to you…book this trip asap! You don’t need to visit with a group only. However, please know that if you are going on your own to watch a demonstration, the groups will always get priority viewing, because they paid to do so.
And don’t worry…hate candy canes?! They have a TON of other sweet treats to choose from, not to mention the several other flavors of candy canes they make. (I highly suggest Root Beer!)
