Summer is here and we’ve got two great public pools that you can enjoy! McCambridge Pool and The Verdugo Aquatic center are on two different sides of town…with two different vibes as well.
The McCambridge Pool, located at the McCambridge Park Recreation Center, has a ton more deck space and has a much more relaxed feel. There are no mixed lap swim hours with free swim, so during their open swim hours, you won’t be limited on space by lap swimmers. You are free to bring in food, drinks, coolers, chairs and umbrellas for a truly laid back swim experience.
The Verdugo Aquatic Center, on the other hand has a stricter schedule and outside food and drinks are not allowed. (water is the exception). You can, however, purchase snacks from their third-party run Snack Shack. The reason the Verdugo Pool is sought after is because of their amazing Activity Pool! But, be warned…this place has sold out every day since they opened this spring. You must show up in person to purchase wristbands for the Activity Pool/Swim area. Burbank Residents Only can purchase advanced bands starting at 9:00am Monday-Friday. There are no advanced sales on Saturday and Sunday. Weekday pre-sale stops at 11:30am. There are only 40 bands per session held for pre-sale daily. Only 5 bands per family is allowed for purchase during pre-sale. Wristbands are sold first come, first served. There are two sessions to choose from during the week and three on the weekend.
**Please note, that pass holders to the pools must still wait in line to purchase Activity Pool wristbands.
The max for the Activity Pool is between 100-140 per session. This varies greatly, depending if there is a field trip or group there at the same time. Please know and understand, the people working at the pool have no control over how many wristbands are sold and if they have any for you and your family. Please be kind.
Here are the hours and fees for the current summer session, per The City of Burbank Aquatics Page:
Life Jackets
Please know that both pools have a NO PERSONAL FLOTATION DEVICE ALLOWED rule. That means no inner tubes and no floaties. However, you may bring a life jacket, but it MUST BE US Coast Gaurd Certified. The life jacket would have a tag on it stating so.
