On Monday, July 2, LEGOLAND California unveiled its newest ride, LEGO City: Deep Sea Adventure. We were honored to be among the first to ride it after witnessing the fantastic opening ceremony at which time the park donated $80,000 to Ronald McDonald House.
LEGO City: Deep Sea Adventure is the most expensive ride created for an of the LEGOLAND Parks. The interactive ride takes place aboard a real submarine in which guests go underwater to discover incredible LEGO sculptures and sea creatures. That’s right! It features more than 2,000 sea animals including five species of sharks, rays (including a southern stingray with a five-foot wingspan) and other tropical fish that swim.
All of the new underwater LEGO models are themed around a ship’s sunken treasure and play into one of the coolest elements of the ride–the interactive story. Through the use of interactive touchscreens at each porthole inside the sub, guests can help the LEGO minifigure dive team identify LEGO gems, pearls, gold coins and more throughout the more than four-minute journey. At the end of the ride, based on how much each guest finds, they will reach one of three levels: Junior, Senior or Master Explorer.
I know it is a little hard to hear, but this video best shows what goes on in the ride:
Here’s is another that shows the kids “in action” enjoying all the fun.
There is a lot to love about this ride experience!
- The theming is awesome and we loved how the sea life and LEGO sculptures were incorporated into an incredible experience.
- The touchscreen was a lot of fun and really kept the kids engaged and wanting to go on it again!
- The ride is great for kids of all ages. If they are really young, they will love just seeing the fish and LEGO creations in the water. If they are older, they will love the extra bit of fun provided by the touchscreens. Everyone wins!
- The line, much like many of the lines at LEGOLAND California, features LEGO building stations that keep kiddos occupied while waiting.
LEGO City: Deep Sea Adventure is included with regular park admission and part of a super fun day at LEGOLAND California. Check out our Instagram Story from our adventure below!
