I don’t think I can truly imagine how important a role is for a dog in a combat situation. I also don’t think I would ever genuinely understand the bond between a serviceman or woman and their canine on the field.
This story, inspired by the actual events of a marine and his partner, is truly a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the four-legged friends that help save the lives of our military daily. As a precision-trained military dog, Max serves on the frontlines in Afghanistan alongside his handler, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott. But when things go terribly wrong in one moments in war, Kyle is mortally wounded and Max, traumatized by the loss of his best friend, is unable to remain in service. The only human he then seems willing to connect with is Kyle’s teenage brother, Justin.
Of course, this isn’t the end of the story. There’s a lot your family will love.
I was very surprised at how much of an action-adventure this film was…and it was absolutely appropriate for my kids. As a matter of fact, they loved it. This film does an amazing job of telling the story without revealing anyone getting shot or showing images that might be upsetting to younger viewers.
Except the one kiss…my kids went crazy with laughter when a teenage girl plants one on the boy she admires most.
Not inappropriate at all…just fun for my kids to giggle at 🙂
My children and I enjoyed this film as a family movie night. It was full of fun, action, emotion, suspense and a young love kiss as mentioned above.
