No Filter…Just Neon. Very Neon.
Last week I was introduced to Thrifty Ice Cream…at Rite Aid. We went to the Verdugo Pool with some friends and after, she asked if I wanted to take the kids for a cone.
Sure! Where….Baskin Robbins?
“No. Rite Aid.” She answered.
Oh, you mean, get a tub of ice cream…or is there a freezer with the individual cones pre-packaged?
No. They scoop ice cream there.
Say what?!
Yes, they scoop ice cream at the Rite Aid on the corner of Hollywood Way and Magnolia. Appearently I am late to the game. As we walked in, I’m not joking when I say this, 4 separate people all said…. “Ice cream run, eh?”
They saw us all in our swim suits, sun exhausted.
This Rite Aid serves cheap single scoop cones…and plenty in that scoop.
I highly suggest for a cheap summer treat!
When I was a kid, Thrifty Ice cream was a quarter. My parents played in a Sunday softball league at Olive Park and all us kids (my cousins and friends…all the kids of the softball team, probably about 12 of us in total) we would save a quarter for Sunday afternoon and while our parents played ball we would walk over to Thrifty for a cone. Such a delicious memory!
