I got online to check out the Minnie costumes on the market and knew that the costume needed to fulfill two key requirements: it had to be comfortable and “family friendly.” Much to my surprise, when I began browsing websites, virtually every costume was a “sexy” Minnie costume and wasn’t exactly appropriate for an evening with the kids at Disneyland. And then, like a bolt of lightning it hit me: Why get a costume when I could actually buy a dress?
I headed over to Unique Vintage’s website and saw that they had a wide selection of adorable polka dot dresses, perfect for my Minnie costume. I headed over as soon as they opened in the morning and scored an adorable red and white polka dot dress and a black, patent leather bow belt for just over $50–easily what I would have spent on a costume at a Halloween shop. (I added a Minnie Mouse headband that matched perfectly once I arrived at the Resort.) The great thing about the dress is that I will get tons of use out of it during the warm months when it isn’t Halloween.
If you are looking for a really cute Halloween costume but want to be practical and want something that actually covers your derrière, then head over to Unique Vintage on Magnolia ASAP and get inspired like I did!
