Beautiful Downtown Burbank has so many great restaurants. As a matter of fact, it’s one of our favorite places to find a place to eat. It’s busy, for a small city/big town ‘busy’ anyway, and has everything from seafood, pizza, burgers, BBQ, Hawaiian, Japanese and good ‘ol All-American fare.
But in a very newly remodeled restaurant location, Pampas Bar & Grill is serving up some traditional Brazilian dishes that really do help me appreciate what a diverse city we live in.
“No lie, our food makes me feel like I’m in my mother’s kitchen in Brazil,” says Burbank Manager, Samya Caran . Samya is originally from Vitoria, Espirito Santo in Brazil and was clearly excited to share with me the exceptional offerings Pampas Grill has to offer.
Samya schooled me in the traditional Brazilian dishes that you can enjoy, my very favorite being their homemade chicken stroganoff. I’ve had this dish before, but really loved their recipe. You simply must try this dish.
Other traditional dishes include their collard greens, fried yucca, fried plantains and their ‘always gluten free’ cheese bread. It’s gluten free, because this traditional small roll, is made with Yucca flour!
The way the restaurant works is by weight. Literally, you pay by the pound. At first glance, it looks like an all you can eat buffet and I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to get all I wanted to try with just one round up to the beautiful bar….but I was wrong. I actually was able to get every single thing I wanted to try on my plate and then couldn’t finish it!
But like any churrascaria I’ve ever visited, the meat is the star of the show. (Fear not vegetarians and vegans, see below for options for you, too!). The Pichana beef is the most popular and once you try, you’ll know why. All the meat is cooked fresh daily over a flame, with the flavor to prove it.
Their selections include the Pichana (sirloin cap) beef, Tri-tip, Chicken thighs and drumsticks, pork loin, garlic beef and more… really, it’s everything you need.
There are options for the vegetarians in your life (or you, if that’s you). The salad bar has all but one item (the chicken salad) that is vegetarian. On the hot sides, you’ve got plenty as well… vegetarian black beans, rice, plantains, collard greens, mashed potatoes and a few more options. Vegans can also get some delicious cold sides in the salad bar with the tabouli, hearts of palm salad, fresh beets and more.
If I could recommend a dessert for you to try, it simply MUST be the Romeo & Julieta! This is literally Guava and cheese ice cream, and to me, basically tastes like a frozen fruit cheesecake. The most creamiest, rich cheesecake you’ve ever had. With frozen fruit chunks….it’s truly a Brazilian dessert that ONLY the Burbank location has…how lucky are we!?
So, let’s talk about happy hour. Get this….Monday through Friday, 3pm-6pm, you get 25% off all food!! That’s fantastic. I was told many in the area come for lunch during their work break and fill a container for lunch and half for dinner. That’s a happy hour deal!
And drinks during happy hour have a few specials as well. During happy hour, Well drinks are $5, as are select beers and house wine. There is live music on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Overall, my husband and I were excited to have another restaurant on our list of places we can go eat fresh and pretty quickly. And happy hour makes it that much better. Put Pampas Grill on your list, you won’t regret it!
